The number of freshman enrolled in Michigan\'s universities this year broke 40,000 for the first time. Wayne State , however, had the largest decline in freshman, dropping from 3,120 last fall to 2, 879 this fall. Provost Nancy Barrett said the drop was expected on the heels of WSU\'s large increase the previous two years.
